Green City Growers Raised-Bed Vegetable Gardens

We use only the highest-quality materials to construct our raised-beds. All the materials and techniques we use are chemical-free, producing fresh, healthy produce from your yard for years to come.

The benefit of raised-beds is that they can be placed on any surface, including pavement, cement, rooftops, or non-viable soil. No matter what your soil content, your raised-bed is chemical-free. Raised-beds are also very neat and clean looking, the perfect addition to a well kept lawn, small space, business park, or anywhere!

Installation costs include the construction and installation of raised-beds on your property, including high-quality organic soil, and a drip irrigation system with a timer. Custom design options, including non-toxic paints and stains to match your home and aesthetic, as well as custom sizes and designs, are available. Just ask!

Pest Fencing

Green City Growers offers standard 4'x4', 4'x8' and custom critter fencing. Our fencing is 5 feet tall, and is made from conduit poles, sturdy mesh, and velcro for easy in-and-out access to your garden. Fencing is recommended for most locations in the suburbs, or anywhere with critter problems.

Our fencing is a line of defense against rabbits, woodchucks, deer, cats, geese, squirrels, rats, or any other pest that could be munching at your garden goodies. GCG Offers FREE repairs on fencing for all weekly and monthly maintenance clients.

Education and One-Time Tutorials

Green City Growers offers education and tutorials around every aspect of growing food at home, in your community, or at the workplace.

If you have a GCG raised-bed installed, you can sign up for our Self Farm Course, a hands-on tutorial that will guide you through the planting process with a trained GCG farmer, and give you the starting knowledge to maintain your garden on your own. At your Self Farm Course, you will be given a resource packet, begin to form a year-long planting calendar for your site, plant your garden for the season with our seeds and starts, and
receive emails and updates with current horticultural information pertaining to your garden.

GCG offers one-time tutorials for the do-it-yourself gardener. We are here to help! If you'd like to consult with us about your potential project or pre-existing garden, we can schedule a visit to sit down and help you out, any step of the way.

GCG can also educate at your event. Our professional and experienced staff can introduce your community or business to the joys and benefits of organic vegetable gardening. We often present on container gardening, and have done events for Slow Food, The American Heart Association, The Museum of Science, Harvest Co-op, Down2Earth Expo, Bountiful Brookline, and many other organizations. Email us if you are interested in having GCG speak at your event.

Cold Frame Technology and Winter Growing

Cold Frames are like mini-greenhouses that fit on top of your raised-beds or can be placed directly on the ground, trapping heat from the sun to maintain a warmer environment than outside. During the winter, the temperature inside the Cold Frames can be up to 40 degrees warmer than outside, promoting healthy growth and keeping plants alive, year-round. With cold fme technology, you can extended your growing season into the late fall and early spring, with the potential to harvest year-round.

Cold Frames make growing in our Northern climate less of a challenge. Cold Frames are installed at the beginning of October or the beginning of March, depending on when you get started. Our cold frames come with a heat activated automatic arm that opens and closes the lid, which is critical in the Spring and Fall as temperatures fluctuate, allowing for the highest possible success rate without constant monitoring.

*Cold Frames are a one-time investment, and can be used year after year for over-wintering. Green City Growers offers a 1-year warranty on all Cold Frame repairs for our maintenance clients.

Your Growing Season

Without Cold Frames: April-November (8 Months)

With Cold Frames: March-December (10 Months, two more months of Harvesting!)
