We use only the
highest-quality materials to construct our raised-beds. All the materials and
techniques we use are chemical-free, producing fresh, healthy produce from your
yard for years to come.
The benefit of raised-beds is that they can be placed on any surface, including pavement, cement,
rooftops, or non-viable soil. No matter what your soil content, your
raised-bed is chemical-free. Raised-beds are also very neat and clean looking,
the perfect addition to a well kept lawn, small space, business park, or anywhere!
Installation costs include the construction and installation of raised-beds on your property,
including high-quality organic soil, and a drip irrigation system with a timer. Custom design options, including non-toxic paints and stains to match your home and aesthetic, as well as custom sizes and designs, are
available. Just ask!

Cold Frame Technology and Winter Growing

Cold Frames are like
mini-greenhouses that fit on top of your raised-beds or can be placed directly on the ground, trapping heat from the sun to
maintain a warmer environment than outside. During the winter,
the temperature inside the Cold Frames can be up to 40 degrees warmer than
outside, promoting healthy growth and keeping plants alive, year-round. With
cold fme technology, you can extended your growing season into the late fall
and early spring, with the potential to harvest year-round.
Cold Frames make
growing in our Northern climate less of a challenge. Cold Frames are installed
at the beginning of October or the beginning of March, depending on when you get started. Our cold frames come with a heat activated automatic
arm that opens and closes the lid, which is critical in the Spring and
Fall as temperatures fluctuate, allowing for the highest possible success
rate without constant monitoring.
*Cold
Frames are a one-time investment, and can be used year after year for
over-wintering. Green City Growers offers a 1-year warranty on all Cold Frame
repairs for our maintenance clients.
Without Cold Frames: April-November (8 Months)
With Cold Frames: March-December (10 Months, two more months of Harvesting!)
